The Casa Kilyos breakfast terrace looking out over the garden

Breakfast · Tue – Sun 09:00 – 13:00

A spread breakfast among the trees in Sarıyer

A table set with what the garden gave us, under the trees in Kilyos. Forty-five minutes from the city and an entirely different kind of morning.

What's on the table

Most of it travelled a few hundred metres

The greens and herbs come from our garden, the jams from our own fruit, the bread out of the oven that morning. Cheese and olives come from small producers we know by name. The spread runs to around twenty items and changes with the season.

Where Casa Kilyos sits among Sarıyer's breakfast places

Sarıyer is one of Istanbul's most popular districts for breakfast. The range runs from the garden restaurants around Zekeriyaköy and Uskumruköy out to the Kilyos shore — and on a weekend morning most of that range is full.

The difference usually shows up in two places: where the food on the table came from, and whether breakfast is all the venue does. Most operations build the spread on wholesale supply and close by mid-afternoon.

At Casa Kilyos a good part of the table comes from our own farm, and breakfast is the start of the whole day rather than the whole of it. You can move on to the courts, or choose to stay.

What's in the spread

The table runs to around twenty items. The backbone is the same every day: bread baked that morning, butter, honey, several cheeses, olives, eggs and seasonal greens.

What changes depends on the season. Fresh herbs and the first salads in spring; tomatoes and peppers through summer; figs and grapes in autumn; and in winter the pickles and preserves we put up across the warmer months.

The jams are made from our own fruit — strawberries, plums and figs come in from the garden straight to the kitchen. Cheese, olives and flour we buy from small producers we know. We'd rather say that plainly: not everything here is ours.

The best times for breakfast in Kilyos

Service starts at 09:00 and last orders are at 12:30; we're closed on Mondays. Between 10:00 and 12:00 at weekends is the busiest stretch, and arriving without a booking then is a gamble.

For a quieter morning, midweek or the 09:00–10:00 hour at weekends is noticeably calmer. In summer the early slot is cooler too, with the garden still in shade.

We put no limit on how long you keep the table. Most guests stay about two hours and then walk out into the garden.

Getting to Kilyos from Istanbul

Around 45 minutes from the European side via Sarıyer on the Kilyos road. Weekend mornings are usually clear; in summer the return can back up at the Sarıyer exit in the afternoon, so leaving early is sensible.

Public transport is possible but the last stretch may need a short taxi. Driving is the practical option, and there is free parking on site.

Address and map are on the contact page.

After breakfast: the farm, the courts, the bungalows

For most guests breakfast is where the day starts. Get up from the table and walk the farm, or play a match on the padel or pickleball courts.

If you'd rather stay, breakfast is included with the bungalows — you come back to the same table the next morning.

You can book a court slot at the same time as the table; one call covers both.

Breakfast with children and larger groups

The garden is wide and closed to traffic. For families that's the detail which most separates it from a breakfast place in town: when a child leaves the table you aren't tracking where they went.

We have high chairs and prepare simple portions for younger guests. We don't print a separate children's menu — sharing the same table usually covers it.

For groups above eight we'd ask for notice. A few days is enough to set a long table and have the spread ready on time.
